Earth Day Extravaganza!

The day that we were anticipating all year has come and gone, but that doesn't mean that festivities have ended on The Kari-Lea Show. Last night we were host to an Earth Day celebration which featured dignitaries and Earth Day Authorities from some corners of the planet that we call home. Our goal for the day--to bring awareness to our home and native land, and to share perspectives about treatment of the Earth in general.

Many of our guests suggested that Earth Day meant AWARENESS. They encouraged viewers at home to support the earth through litterless lunch programs and the purchase of tupperware. Matt Weston, formerly of our sister rock band Icewater, was unfamiliar with the tupperware epidemic. This has not prevented him, however, from taking steps to prevent unnecessary waste in his life. He is currently at odds with the disposal committee at his educational institute who have yet to implement a recycling program! Matt has been in talks with his class representatives and has demanded that changes be made. The Kari-Lea Show supports Matt in his pursuit of recycling glory. We will be following this story and will keep you posted on any progress.

Dan, a first time guest on the show, has extended his concern to other planets in the galaxy. He cited Uranus as a planet in dire need of attention. We applaud Dan for his forward thinking and for his insistence that we question our obligation, not only to the earth, but to the universe.

Jamie Carter, our devoted supporter for three seasons now, presented our viewers with an authentic and devoted plea for the Earth. As a founder of a litterless lunch program in grade six, Jamie is no stranger to picking through garbage in environmentally friendly gloves. She expressed the utter simplicity behind a conscious approach to caring for the Earth. If we accept our responsibility then everything else should fall into place, she suggests. In addition, she insists that we extend our Earth Day awareness and strive towards a better earth "24 hours a day, 365 days a year, because there are 364 unEarthdays that can't be forgotten." We applaud Jamie for her commitment to this cause, and we look forward to following up on her progress.

Sarah Vowell shares many of Jamie's perspectives. She is currently involved in a garbage removal program with her landlord of two years. Sarah expressed gratitude towards her landlord's involvement, not only in the garbage removal, but in ensuring that all tenants are maintaining their grades. We were deeply moved by this devotion, and were all reminded by Sarah V of the importance behind good grades. As Sarah noted, "stupid girls pollute"--bumper stickers will be available on our website in the coming weeks.

Two of our guests shared very different perspectives yesterday. We appreciate their candidness and courage in expressing their views. Chris Gapski takes an unusual approach to Earth Day. Since so many people are rooting for Earth on April 22, Chris does all that he can to be wasteful and cruel to our planet. He explains that one can never have everybody by his side, and the same policy should apply for the Earth. Chris utilizes his membership at wholesale clubs to aid him in his pursuit. Good luck, Chris.

Our final guest of the evening, Ike Moore, presented viewers with, what he refers to as, "the wave of the future." We were honoured to host the unveiling of the 4th R. Ike encouraged our viewers to consider the new slogan and to get active in considering its relavence to today's society. "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Ridiculous" is a slogan that suggests an overeagerness to be something that we're not naturally (I think you know where we're going with that). Through clips from Mr. Nanny and Lord of the Rings, Ike solidified his perspective and truly provided our viewers with something to ponder.

While we at The Kari-Lea Show do not necessarily condone all perspectives shared on our Earth Day Special, we are grateful that we were able to share so many ideas and approaches to life on our planet. Catch our Encore Presentation of the Earth Day Special to hear the ideas presented by all of our guests. We have only presented the most developed ideas here, but we heard many more. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the guests on our special! We couldn't have done it without you.

In other news, we would like to welcome Julie Cybulski to the Kari-Lea Show staff. Julie has been hired on as our head of security! We look forward to working with her. Also, we regret to inform you that Sheenah Duclos has been granted a leave from her position as Environmental Representative. Sheenah was unable to attend the Earth Day extravaganza, but we remain hopeful that she will return to work with us in the future.

And there you have it.
Thank you again for sharing Earth Day with The Kari-Lea Show.

Champions off Ice!

On Saturday The Kari-Lea Show travelled half way around the globe to Detroit to tape a segment featuring the stars of Champions on Ice. We were honoured to bring along some lucky guests, Lucas (Our Can You Get the Tickets? Sweepstakes winner), Liz (Our Camera Girl for a Day Contest winner), and Laura (Our estranged PR Rep). While at the show, Laura was overcome with joy exclaiming "All of my life's work has culminated in this!". While we remain unsure of what this means, we are certain that the statement is website-worthy.

Things really heated up backstage, with the skaters all clamouring to catch a glimpse of Kari-Lea. The eager athletes were encouraged by personnel on the scene to form a single file line so that Kari-Lea would have an opportunity to spend time with each and every one of them. As they flocked towards her, the skaters expressed their excitement. They had, what we can only presume were family members, lined up waiting to take photographs of their steps before and after they met with Kari-Lea. The world has never seen wider smiles than were seen on those skaters' faces! Catch our upcoming Recap show for a glimpse at some tour secrets! You think the champions on ice are captivating?? Wait until you catch a glimpse of the tour's filthy underbelly in our Champions Off Ice special! Check local listings and such.

We at the Kari-Lea Show would just like to take this opportunity to thank all of the contest winners and fans who made this show possible. We owe all of our success to you!

And there you have it!
